You Should Always Size Up

How to master the forbidden cuff

Most people buy pants that fit. Shame. I buy them huge. I buy them sloppy. I buy them so baggy that a belt is not an accessory but the literal least I can do.

Fuck a “proper fit.” The only proper fit is the one I want to wear.

This is about as “normal” as big can or should be. Photo: Graphpaper.

Not everyone gets it. Hell, most don’t. Nothing cheeses me off more than someone assuming I want my pant to fit they way they want their pants to fit. You’re wearing pants normal. I’m wearing pants crazy-style. My style.

I’ll say it again, as always: Good style is selfish.

Still, I can’t count the number of times that, when I’ve asked to try on a larger pant size at a store, bro is like, “What’s your waist size?” I get it. But, irrelevant. My size is Maximum Size. Huge me up. The only times it’s not worth sizing up is when you’ve got a (truly) elastic waist in the mix — none of those narsty little half-elastics but a true-blue elastic bastard — or any time that sizing up only increases length instead of overall volume.

Because that is why we do it. Volume. Hence the name of this blog.
